Oh man! What else is coming my way now?
And so it begins! I know I am in for some real trouble down the road. I thought the fact that I’ve been pretty easy on my daughter was going to cause some problems - I hadn’t really taken in to consideration just what a big brother could do to his little sister. Here’s what happened tonight.
Me: Ryan Patrick! Did you do this?
Ryan: What?
Me: Come here right now!
Ryan: What? (as he slowly saunters around the couch)
Me: This! Right here! Did you hook your sister up to this leash?
Ryan: No. Kylie did it herself.
Me: Ryan! She’s only 2 years old. You know she doesn’t know how to work this thing.
Ryan: I didn’t do it.
Me: You tell me the truth right now or you’re going to your room for the rest of the night.
Ryan: Fine. I did it.
Me: What were you thinking? Why would you do something like that to your little sister? You know she loves you.
Ryan: She was really pissing me off!
Me: RYAN!!!
Ryan: Well, she was!
Nevertheless, Ryan ended up in timeout for a lot longer than his usual 4 minutes. I doubled it for 1.) hooking his sister up to the dog’s leash, 2.) for lying to me, and 3.) for cussing. You know, I heard her calling for me - but - she didn’t really sound like she was in any distress - so I pretty much took my time getting to her. Now that I know what her big brother is capable of - I’ll be sure to go to her right away when she calls for me rather than wait to see if she comes to me when I’m not quick to react. Next time he’ll probably lock her in his or her toybox!
I think I need to put mommy in time out too for her language!
